Welcome
When you take a trip abroad, whether it be for a holiday, or on business, you need to be prepared if planning to book car hire and drive. As well as getting hold of your international driving license, you need to grasp the fundamentals of your destinations road laws. Firstly, knowing what side of the road your car is meant to be on and then any other rules that might be of importance.
For example in France you can be pulled over on the motorways for driving too slow, where as the German autobahns have no speed limits at all.. and you can't drive on the motorway at all in Austria or Switzerland unless you buy a permit first!
Don't panic just yet though, we have a collection of tips in our A to Z that will help you think about some of the things you need to consider. Check out our Road Rules Abroad section as well for information of what side of the road to drive on as well as links to handy sites with links to local laws.
Before you book an International car hire, it's worth checking out the road regulations of your destination . Don't let the trivial things plague your travels!
